These are grown with all-natural compost and get watered by nature, rain!
The plant itself is a natural bug repellent and requires no pesticide, which is why it's our favorite plant in the whole world.

We will dig up the root and trimmed at the time of your order for guaranteed freshness.
We will dig up the roots from the mother plant and save 6 inches of the stalk to encourage maximum growth of your lemongrass plant. Made to order to guarantee fresh roots when you receive them. The roots are carefully wrapped to retain moisture during shipment time. Sometimes depending on the heat or cold, the stalks will change color but it doesn't affect your success rate of planting it. We stand behind our products so please don't hesitate to contact us should anything go wrong, we are happy to send replacements.

This variety is perennial which means it will remain year after year if you're in a warm region (zone 9+). You will be getting your stalks from a 3-year-old mother plant and keep the existing roots for you, so it's guaranteed to be successful. You can plant them right away or put them in water until you are ready to plant them.

How to Grow Lemongrass

When you receive your stalks, put them in water and place them in a cool spot in your home if you are unable to put them in the ground right away. Follow the directions below to grow your lemongrass.

Soil → Any well-drained soil. Honestly, it is so easy, it will grow on anything, even sandy soil. It will take a while but it will grow.

Position → Full sun is best. Partial sun is okay too!

Frost tolerant → Lemongrass is a tropical plant that freezes to death where winter temperatures drop below 15F (-9C).
In all climates, potted plants are easy to keep through winter indoors. Watering → Make sure the roots stay moist during initial planting (1-2 weeks until the plant establishes new growth). Rainwater is the best in our experience.

Companions → Cilantro, Echinacea and Basil. Spacing → Single Plants: 2' 3" (70cm) each way (minimum) Rows: 1' 11" (60cm) with 2' 11" (90cm) row gap (minimum) Sow and

Plant → Plant lemongrass in a warm, sunny spot that is convenient to water. Notes → In late summer, dig away an outer stalk, cut back the leaves to 3 inches (8 cm), and plant it in a small container. Grow it through winter in a sunny windowsill, providing only small amounts of water, and replant outdoors the following spring. Harvesting → Leave the plant to develop some thick stems before starting to harvest. The most tender leaves are found close to the stems.

Troubleshooting → Plants may rot in poorly drained clay soil. When lemongrass is grown in containers, shift the plants to larger pots as needed. When the roots become crowded, they can cause clay pots to crack.
